CyberZone

CyberZone is a friendly fun club for families with disabled children aged 7 and up. The club provides you with the opportunity to meet other families with similar issues; access high quality computer and teaching facilities in a friendly supportive environment; participate in a range of other activities which address the needs of young people with disabilities and their families. The club runs on Saturdays and during school holidays.

Parents, carers and children can participate. The club provides you with the opportunity to access workshops in IT, 'Street Wise' and Sex/Relationship Education for young people.

Club users are supported by an experienced and highly qualified computer tutors, youth worker and support workers. The Street Wise project is supported by community Police.

The emphasis of the club is on having "FUN", whether you are playing games or taking the opportunity to learn practical skills. Enjoy playing Games or learn about the Internet, Graphic Design, Word Processing, Music Technology, Web Design, Digital Photography, Digital Video and loads more.


New: CyberZone Fun with Food
Independent living for families with disabled children. Course will focus on everyday survival skills. Food preparation, kitchen skills, keeping safe in the kitchen, hygiene, handling money, shopping and travel. Provisional Start date: 6 Nov 04.

CyberZone Family Workshop
Parents and Carers can brush up on computer skills while the children have fun in the CyberZone Computer Club. You set your own personal goals with support from the ICT staff. The workshop is run by a professional ICT tutor from Community Education Lewisham.


CyberZone Computer club
A fun Computer club for disabled children with a large range of PC games, Internet, educational, music, graphic and multimedia software, scanners, digital imaging, Play Stations and a pool table. Open on Saturday and School Holidays.


CyberZone Street
Wise Workshops
This involves friendly visits from the Police and role play run by experienced youth workers. These run for 5 week periods during term time on Saturday mornings.


CyberZone Sex and Relationship Education
These are aimed at adolescent children and include information sessions for parents. These run for 5 week periods during term time on Saturday mornings.


Holiday CyberZone
Half term, Easter and Summer computer club for children with disabilities.


Friends of CyberZone
Join a friendly group of parents and supporters to express your view and participate in discussion about the clubs activities and future events.


Other Events

Other events include a Summer Barbecue, Christmas Party and Outings such as the Seaside and Theme Parks. We also have guest visitors discussing various disability issues.


Opening Times and Days
The club operates most Saturdays between 9.00am and 1.30pm and during half term and Summer and Easter School Holidays (Wednesday and Thursdays 9.15am to 3.45pm).


Entry Details

Open to families who live in Lewisham and with children with disabilities 7 years old and up. Entry is based on a visit to the centre and an informal interview.
