Farmland Museum and Denny Abbey – May 2006

“Our first summer trip this year was to The Farmland museum near Cambridge. Lots of people signed up so we hired a big and a small coach to cope with the numbers. The weather was awful till we arrived at which point the sun started shining (thought not continuously). The coach was extremely comfortable and most people commented that they had had a very relaxing day- me included- with nothing to worry or hurry about. My 15 year-old daughter, who has learning difficulties enjoyed sitting between two female parents on the back seat of the coach (while I as an embarrassing dad was banished to the front) and enjoyed listening to the adults and joining in when she could.

The museum is quite small so I did not feel pressurized to rush about in case I missed something. My daughter’s highlights were meeting a herd of cows and learning that farm labourers had to go to the loo in a bucket in an outside lean-to.”

“I liked everything. I went on a lot more rides. I felt good, brilliant.”
(Mum).

“What a wonderful time was had by all at Thorpe Park. We got there at opening time and flew through. Because we had children with disabilities, we could have bands on our wrists that got us through the queues like jelly.
The rides were hair raising and stomach churning. Absolutely fantastic!!!!
We had the most marvellous weather, hot but not too much wind. Lunch was eaten at the farm, it was so very nice and peaceful there, I didn't want to move. The teenagers (including my son) kept re-riding the same ride and loved it. My son wants to go back and I've said we will, but not yet. Many thanks Horizons for the trip, the subsidy towards the cost, the day which was brilliant, it took 3 days before the smile went from my face thinking about the day. Fond memories of Thorpe Park, the group and everything about the day. Wholly enjoyable. Many thanks.”
(Mum).
